There are two things that I would be compelled to do in Paris – eat and shop! Today Brad Pitt took Zahara and Shiloh on a shopping trip so I guess they got one of the two covered!
Shiloh looked adorable in her little hat and meanwhile Zahara is getting more beautiful every day and is going to be a knock-out when she grows up. Her hair is amazing!
Speaking of hair, there was some shock today when RadarOnline posted a handful of photos showing that Shiloh’s hair is now much shorter than it was before.
I like the cut, it’s very cute. Considering the fact that Shiloh seems to be very much an on-the-go kid, she may not have much patience for having her hair done. I know that although my girls both have longer hair now, I have cut their hair in the past just because it was getting too tangled and knotted up and they just didn’t like having it combed. With Shiloh’s new short hairdo it probably cuts down on prep time and battles in the Jolie-Pitt household when they need to go out.

Has anyone ever considered that maybe Shilo was born a hermaphrodite and they decided together that they’ll raise her as a boy? I have no disrespect; just a thought to reasons why they choose this type of wear (hair & clothing) for her. (Rather than assuming she’s just “tomboyish”.
Michaela – Im not sure about that for two reasons, when she was younger she used to wear dresses, and this time last year she wore a blue skirt when she was out shopping with Brad, Angie and Zee, and also because many little girls go through different stages, my own sister likes to wear boys clothes a lot, purely because the are more comfy. Maybe she just likes to be like her brothers
Also in an interview with Oprah, Brad said how Shiloh went through a stage of loving Peter Pan, and everyine had to call her “peter” or “john” so maybe its another on of those phases, shes probably quite a determined a little girl!
Shiloh used to wear girly clothes until she got a bit older and had more of a choice in what she wore.

I am thinking more and more that the hair cut was a Shilo hair cut.
Also Michaela Shiloh used to have long hair until it was cut (maybe to get out her eyes and easier to brush) children cry when trying to get tangles out of long hair. Or maybe it is because Shiloh wanted it short. She is cute how ever she wants to look.

Have you honestly, SERIOUSLY never seen or heard of girls who prefer to wear boyish clothing? I had short hair, wore jeans & flannel shirts, and played with cars a lot during a phase when I was younger but I can assure you that my parents weren’t raising me as a boy. They raised me as a person who deserved enough respect to allow me to dress in a way that was comfortable to me.
I mean really, is Suri Cruise and all her frilly dresses being raised by Katie as a primadonna princess? Because to me it looks like it’s nothing more than another set of parents dressing their kids the way each child is most at ease.

I’m not deleting it because then I’d have to delete all the replies as well. But really, when you ask if a tomboyish girl is really a hermaphrodite being raised as a boy now, do you honestly think no one will react strongly?
I know that people are born as hermaphrodites, but don’t you think that Brad and Angelina would have made the choice right at the beginning rather than several years down the line?
Although I personally doubt it, because, as mentioned, she used to wear girly clothes too, and her parents have been quoted(I think) for saying that Shi looks up to her older brothers and likes to wear their clothes, your thought would explain something that had me puzzled since the news got out that she was born.
I know that Jean Nouvel is a favorite architect of Brad’s and that’s probably why her second name is Nouvel. But nouvel is also (if I’m not mistaken) a form of the French word for the adjective “new”. Now the masculine form for the adjective is “nouveau” and the feminine form “nouvelle”. And “nouvel” is the masculine exception form for when the noun that follows the adjective starts with a vowel.
Now, I don’t speak Hebrew, and can’t say anything about Hebrew grammar… but does the word “Shiloh” have a genus? If it’s masculine it would make more sense.
But if not, Shi will surely often be asked (later on in life) why her second name’s masculine.
Of course, it’s always nice to have an exotic name, I have one myself and I like it. And it doesn’t bother me that 90% of the times I meet someone I have to explain its origin. And my brother even has “Maria” for his second name, so yeah, why should the genus of the name have to be the same as the baby’s sex.
However it still kept me wondering. Particularly because Angelina and Brad put obviously so much thought into picking beautiful meaningful names for their children.

I agree with Kim. One of the kids probably tried out the scissors on Shiloh’s hair. We know that they are into art projects. I bet they had just done a project and all it takes is one second for a kid to say, “hey let’s try to cut our own hair! Shiloh you’re first!”
As for the clothes, I think they let the kids choose what they will wear. I think I remember someone saying Shiloh likes to wear Mad’s hand-me-downs.

I love how Brad takes the kids to visit Angie on set, and If u look at the pics Angie is really pleased to see them, I love seeing the family out and about!

I’m not saying she is. I’m not even saying that I believe it. It’s just an interesting point. That is all.
Hermaphroditism, or the more PC term intersexuality is still treated as such a big taboo. 1 in 600 children is born with XXY. Pseudo-hermaphroditsm occurs even more frequently (see the case of Austrian skier Erik Schinegger: aged 20 at the Olympics in 1968 Erika found out after medical tests that she was actually male). It happens. And the previously common approach to adjust the sex right after birth has been heavily disputed in the last few years. It’s an issue that deserves attention. Maybe not here.
And on the other issue of names, their origins and meanings. Studies have shown that your name does not only influence the development of your personality and self-identity, but also how other people see you (studies in England have shown that some names are less popular with teachers, and consequently subconsciously influence the kid grades). Celebrities have proven to try to excel each other in coming up with exotic names, but the JPs to me have not tried to jump on that bandwagon, but really tried to give their kids names with deeper meanings (e.g. Pax Thien being heavenly peace).
Again, like most of you I too think that her hair is short now for either practical reasons (I had a bowl/beatles cut when I was age 5-8) or because there was some incident with the kids playing with scissors. And like I said, I know that she likes to dress boyishly and in her brothers’ clothes.
Marley, btw, is both a male and female name. In both cases a fairly uncommon first name, but much more frequent as a last name. It “marshy meadow” or a meadow that’s close to water(lake), but it can also be a derivation of the names Marla and Marlene.
I have been meaning to put this out there for a while. Didn’t AJ get pregers with Shiloh when Brad was filming Jessie James? And wasn’t Jessie James filmed in Manitoba CAN? And wasn’t the filming close to Shilo Manitoba? Did you ever think that the name Shiloh came from that. I’m trying to find out the meaning of the the name Shilo, I think it might be Native American.

Brad is such a good dad, and the girls are so beautiful.
I haven’t worn a dress or skirt other than on a dare in over 20 years. I don’t think that means I’m gay, at least my boyfriend doesn’t think I am. And last I looked I’m not a hermaphrodite.
Why should girls of any age have to wear dresses, lace and pink to show they are female?
I read somewhere that Marcheline wanted to name Angelina, Shiloh but obviously that did not happen. I also read that when Angelina traveled she gave the name Shiloh in her reservations and that is how Brad was able to get in touch with her. So the name Shiloh has a special meaning for both of them.
Personally I don’t think that this is an offensive question, just a little Weird LOL.
When you have an hermaphrodite child, you must immediately choose which sex you want. And the child have to take hormone, and others drugs. It’s very improbable that parents who choose a sex, change their means after 3 years. Mostly that’s the children who feel different as teenager or adult and decide to change sex again.
And If you see pictures of Shiloh as a child she was wearing dress, and they also buy her a pink silky.
We don’t always see little girls acting like Shiloh a lot because parents oblige them to wear dress, as my cousine do with her daughter, but the girl cry when she have to wear dress or skirt, she only play with boys at school and always ask you for “ben ten” toys. My cousine is forcing her into hello kitie now since she hate barbie.
I admire them for letting her dress the way she does, but i sometime think they should try a little more to make her dress like a girl. Because my cousine’s daughter come back from school crying because, her schoolmate laugh at her because she plays with boy’s toys. In Shiloh’s case the whole word is already critising and making fun of her, imagine how hard it will be for her!
That being said I don’t know if dressing the other gender is a signe of homosexuality or transgender, it can be as it can’t, every story is different. If it’s a signal it’s important to let the child express herself and realise who she is. They are too much terrible stories of people getting married having child and then let them to live as homosexual or change sex because they realise to late their preferences.
Shiloh is only 3 years old, but i can assume whatever she turn to be her parents will love her the way she will be, and so I.

I hated dresses when I was growing up. I was wearing a lot of trousers, Jeans and shorts when I was a teen as well. I remember my mum got so excited when I picked a dress to wear at 18 years old. That is how long it took me to “girly” up. Let me tell you there is nothing I appreciate and attracted to more than men ans I am insulted people view that as a sign of lesbianism.
I put my girls in shorts and trousers when they go to daycare or to the park so they have freedom of movement… maybe Shiloh *is happy* like that. I mean for god sake th kid is 4, same age as my daughter and so I wonder why all the comments in many places are
1 – Blaming Angie, even when it reads on People that BRAD helped the girls pick the clothes they wanted.
2 – Asking about her sexuality as if it is our business.
3 – WTF is the big deal about her having short hair. What do people want her to have shirly temple girls. I think it will look great on her. I think it would show more of her beautiful features. I look much better with short hair and my family is always telling me that when I grow it longer…
I have had lesbian friend all my life and some of them were prettier and dressed more girly than I even did. I hate frills and bows and two of my lesbian friends was clearly girly, unlike me.

Keats- Actually, Marcheline wanted to name her first baby Shiloh. Shiloh Baptist, to be exact. But sadly, she ended up having a miscarriage. Angie revealed that in an interview right before the twins were born.
Oh, and Angie also said in the same interview that she’s always liked the name Shiloh and even used to use it as an assumed name when staying at hotels and such.

Maybe she just likes boy stuff. Maybe she will grow out of it, maybe she won’t. Why must this ALWAYS be an issue with people. She’s a beautiful little kid who apparently is most comfortable in ‘boy’ clothes. Does there have to be some scandalous drama behind that?

I am 52 years old and when I was a little girl I use to dress like a tomboy, I play in dirt, climb tree, now I wear every fashion that are in the store. Shi is just a little girl and what Micheala said about her being born a Hermaphrodite is so disrepectiful.
I wonder if there would be as big an uproar if Zahara was the one who preferred to dress “like a boy” and Shiloh wore all the girlie outfits. I think some people are just using this topic as an indictment of Angelina’s parenting skills. As if she were the sole parent of Shiloh. The tabloids have successfully dehumanized her to the point that she has become this all purpose bogeyman.

I remember being very squirmish wearing a dress when I was child, and having no sister, I grew up dressing up like my brothers, but I guess I turned out ok without any problems with my sexuality.
I read that as well. The full story was that James had said that his parents had orignally named him James Shiloh instead of James Haven, but then changed their minds.
However, if I’m remembering correctly, the story wasn’t from a very reliable source. James has been erroneously quoted as saying things about the J-Ps before (of course, he HAS also talked about his sister and her family for real!
), so I’m taking that article with a grain of salt. 
Whoa! Things DID get a bit heated in here! To be honest, I’m a bit offended by the comments about Shiloh possibly being inter-sexed and such because she has short hair now.
Why? Well, because I had a nearly identical hairstyle to Shi’s new one throughout most of my childhood….and the last time I checked, I’m 100 percent female!

I don´t really understand why some people are making such a big fuzz over Shiloh´s clothing and style. In my opinion she most definitely ISN´T a hermaphrodite. Just look at her beautiful face and you can tell that this is a beautiful little girl! So what if she prefers to wear boyish clothes right now! I and some of my girlfriends did that a lot when we were children. And as a kid I always used to have short hair and no one made a big deal out of it. Now I and those friends of mine are all very feminine. Naturally we still wear jeans and flanel shirts if we want to and no one thinks we are men. LOL. Shi is only 3 1/2 years old. Leave her alone! She will have plenty of time to dress like a woman! To me she looks absolutely beautiful no matter what she wears! And besides she used to wear dresses a lot when she was younger.
emma – I totally agree with you! No matter how Shi looks she is still beautiful. In my opinion she could be bold (ha ha) and she still would look beautiful to me! She is in that age when she wants to choose her own clothes and if someone forces her to wear something she doesn´t want to she sure has a fit! LOL. She sure is a very strong-willed little lady who knows what she wants. And if it means wearing boyish clothes so be it. She still is an adorable little GIRL!
Whether she is 3 or 33, she is expressing herself like every kid and I am glad to see all the jolie-pitt kids have the chance to be who they are within appropriate limits.
Traci-ZH – I agree with you. All the JP kids are wearing what they want withing appropriate limits. No offense to Suri Cruise but I much rather watch Shiloh wearing whatever she´s wearing. Suri also is a beautiful little girl but I don´t understand why she always wears these designer dresses although it would be raining really hard or snowing! Maybe she doesn´t like wearing pants like her dad Tom Cruise has once mentioned. But like I said let the children wear what they like. They are small only once and lets give them a chance to express themselves!
Marilyn, I so agree with you. That’s a really interesting observation, and I think you’re right. A lot of people still seem to be hung up on the feeling that Angelina loves Shiloh less than the other children, and that she’s somehow purposely taking away her beauty/femininity. It’s ridiculous, but people really believe that. The negative feelings people have toward Angelina are just manifesting in strange and ugly ways. I’m making a resolution not to visit any negative websites on the JPs anymore, it’s too stressful, lol.
As I read all these comments someone else comes to mind: Katherine Hepburn. Shiloh obviously has a strong sense of self and Brad and Angelina should be applauded for letting Shiloh expressed herself. Shiloh by all appearances is a health toddler and plays with her brothers and sister hard, case in point the missing tooth. I would like to see her occasionally with something a little more feminine but that is just me and what I want is not what she needs.
I have to agree with whomever said above that they think this haircut was precipitated by Shiloh or one of the other kids cutting it themselves. There are pictures where you can see that there is a big wedge missing in her bangs. I wouldn’t be shocked if they just had to try and even it out as best they can and wait for the rest to grow out.
Also, if people pay attention you can tell that all of those kids swap hats/shirts/etc. all the time. Last week Shiloh had on a stripped ski cap one day and Pax had it on the next. Brad has already mentioned how much Shi loves her brothers and looks up to them and I think her clothing choices makes that obvious. It also seems to me that she really loves her dad and that her choice of hats, blazers, shoes, etc. look A LOT like the things Brad wears.
I didn’t want to do anything but hike, climb trees, explore explore explore! read, ride horses, build huts, fish, hangout with my boy cousin Mark who is 6mths younger…..all things that would have made a dress simply ridiculous. I refuesed to have my hair combed and it was so wolf-girl matted by the end of summer one year (I at least half the summer on their farm every year until 18) that my mom could only cut my hair off!
Even after I started to take a different look at boys (around 12), I STILL couldn’t wait to be barefoot, tee shirted, raggedy jeaned and free.
Shiloh is simply being allowed to express herself and I love it. Now I’m a hypocrite in that I’d probably be less in agreement if say Knox decided he wanted to express himself in a skirt and heels as a child, but I hope no one minds my honesty on that. I’d be surprised if even his parents would have a different response. Say what you will about how far we’ve evolved, even the most liberal person still has an area or three were they aren’t as non-conformist as they would love the world to think.

i just think its sad how people judge. i admire how they let there children be them selves and i wish i could do the same for mine.
I could believe the story about shiloh or one of the kids cutting her hair. My niece is five years old and she cut of one of her braid, one whole braid in the front of her head. Her mom asked why she did it and like any kid she said”I don’t know”. And not only did she cut it once even after she got in trouble for it the first time, she did it again in a different spot. Her mom had to cut her hair to even it out. Kids try things and they are just being kids. The only reason we are talking about this so much is because shiloh is in the public eye. Lots of kids go through this phase. My son hated karate on Saturday this week he wants to go back cause its fun. Kids I love mine dearly and u never know what they are going to come up with next. Shiloh is a healthy happy little girl. Love all the JPs.
Shiloh looks so…Beautiful and I am very happy that her parents allow her to be a child and in due season she will dress up she do not have to be a tomboy because she has on pants. Z is so…. Beautiful she is being herself as well, children donot have to wear a lot of fancy, expensive clothes to say look at me I am rich, no offense to Suri but everyone has their style. I am happy that they are attempting to give the children as much normalcy as possible, GOD BLESS THEM.
Iam offended by anyone talking negative about Shiloh’s hair it first was Z’s hair can we stay off the children with negative comments.I stopped putting relaxers in my hair to let it be natural mainly because it was thining, the first thing my Beautician said was OH!I guest you are going gay now? I did not dignify her with an answer, and no I never returned after 20 years of going their. I tell anyone never place a label on someone that you donot want on yourself. They are childre let them be just that.

She will be a beautiful young woman one day and break many hearts! I personally love her new hairdo. It reminds me Princess Diana who had similar hairdo. I admired her a lot and was really shocked when she died in 1997. Shi looks a lot like her in this hairdo. It actually is very feminine.
