I wanted to share the video of Angelina Jolie accepting her Heart of Sarajevo Award today at the Sarajevo Film Festival. It’s such a humble and beautiful speech and you can hear her really struggling not to cry.
I think one of my favorite things that she says is this: “There is no greater example of the strengths of the artists and the festival that began during the war and grew stronger every year.”
Also, the dress is even lovelier on her “in person” than it is in the photos I posted earlier of Angelina with Brad on the red carpet. It has such nice, fluid movement, I love it!

Can I share some tidbit from Sarajevo’s director, Jasmila Zbanic ‘s interview ? She stood Angie’s side when Bosnia’s Cultural minister interfered Angie’s movie.
Her Grbavia (English title= The Land Of My Dreams, 2006) is about a story of Bosnia’s single mother, Esma and her daughter, Sara. A story of a woman who had been raped by Serbians and got baby in a concentration camp. (You may imagine the movie is gloomy and hopeless but the movie shows hope . That’s Sara. ) The actress who played raped Muslim woman Esma is a Serbia’s famous actress. She was hugely criticized by Serbia’s media and people and she got attack and threatning from them. They believed the movie would paint Serbians as bad people and rapists and she was a betrayer . The actress was hard-core patriot and didn’t go under those people.
And the young director Zbanic didn’t go under, either. When her movie was shown in Serbia’s capital Beograde, 100 nationalists interfered to the theater but she didn’t yield. The audience in the theater stood her side and they drove off them.
This is some example of strength of artists who want to be true to themselves.
I watched the movie. The director didn’t blame anyone. She showed Esma’s defeated dream by war and her agony but she also showed that Esma can still have hope. At the end of the movie I was smiling with Esma.

Looking at the pics & videos of AJBP visit at Sarajevo Film Festival, I could really say their love is just “there” between them, Not that I doubt their love, it is just that no matter how much I try to pretend that there is none for the sake of argument or to pretend to play devil’s advocate & as what the delusional fans of someone else think, it is just impossible to say they don’t love each other. Even if they are not famous, just by looking at their eyes, the way they look at each other, the way they try to reach for each other & touch, it’s just so natural & inspiring. I mean, right before our eyes, we see how they treat each other. They may be actors & one may say they are just good at pretending for publicity sake, but they simply can’t pretend for that long. Their actions are simply CONSISTENT. Their eyes are dead give-away. They are full of love, care & pride for each other.
I am very certain, these two are made for each other for life. They may have faced a lot of challenges along the way since the beginning of their relationship that mostly brought about by external factors, yet their FOUNDATION OF DEEP FRIENDSHIP & LOVE, they were able to prove the cynics & skeptics wrong, not that they had to.
So, i can really feel & say this couple is really for keeps.
It’s great to see first hand what a humble person she truly is. She cares so much about so many things and people it makes my heart so glad. She has been my hero for many many years and my admiration for her only continues to grow..Sherry you are right about the dress..it is so much prettier in the video..nice to see her in bold colors.
@ Neer, you are completely right. They both seem so well matched and suited to each other. It’s so NICE to watch them together because it’s obvious they love and adore, and respect, each other. They are giving their children such a beautiful example to follow. They are perfect examples of the country song by Rascal Flatts, “God bless the broken road, that led me straight to you.” They hit a lot of speedbumps & detours along ther way, but managed to find each other and are now traveling down the road of life together. This couple will go the distance, you can tell.
Their children, their family, and their fans certainly have much to admire them for. Congratulations, Angelina, for receiving this honor. You are loved & admired all around the world!
I had goosebumps while watching the video when AJ received her Honorary Heart of Sarajevo award. The prolonged APPLAUSE & of course the STANDING OVATION…..are just amazing. The look on the audience faces, eyes & smiles, the way they show their APPRECIATION, ADMIRATION & RESPECT toward Angelina is just awesome!!!
Certainly, AJ felt it in person……we felt it as well even just on the videos …the HEARTFELT GESTURE of the Sarajevo people. These are the moments that no amount of money can buy. These are EARNED. That’s why AJ deserved it wholeheartedly without a doubt because she didn’t manipulate, coerced, buy people to accord her some respect. She probably didn’t expect this special award but when she’s informed beforehand, she’s very grateful & never fail to acknowledge the hospitality, talent & strength of Sarajevo people. Her humility is still showing even if she’s the one receiving the award. Just NO AIR ABOUT her. Just a kind soul..

The actress who played Esma’s best friend in Grbavica is also in Angie’s movie. I saw her with Angie & Brad in one of photos taken at the afterparty of Sarajevo FF.
By the way, it seems Angie’s movie is very good.

Arrival of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt on the closing ceremony of 17th Sarajevo Film Festival was planned for six months. This was confirmed by Altijana Maric, PR SFF, saying that the contact with Angelina`s team was made by actress Zana Marjanovic, who got the lead role in Angelina`s directing movie “In the land of blood and honey.”
The Directorate of the the most important film festivals in the region knew for a month that they will come to Sarajevo in order to receive the award “The Honorary Heart of Sarajevo” for exceptional contribution to film art and humanitarian work all over the world.
However, because of the professional relationship with famous guests, the information of their arrival was a top secret until the beginning of closing ceremony of the festival.
The protocol of Brad and Angelina`s stay passed very well to our mutual satisfaction. We are especially glad that she met with Bosnian film makers – says Mirsad Purivatra from the SFF.
From the Directorate of SFF we learned that Jolie and her husband did not have special requirements.
- Only one thing Angelina insisted during her stay is to meet with Bosnian filmmakers. A month before arrival she received the movies from Bosnian authors and we are particularly happy that upon arrival in Sarajevo she met Jasmila Zbanic, Danis Tanovic and Aida Begic – the Directorate of SFF told us.
Before appearing on the red carpet in front of the National Theater, Angelina met with the participants of Sarajevo Talent Campus “, and after discussions with participants of ” Sarajevo the city of film” project, she expressed a desire to return to Sarajevo as a lecturer on “Sarajevo Talent Campus.”
Angelina and Brad left Sarajevo on Saturday at 22.30 and headed to England, where Pitt films his new movie “World War Z”.
- Their arrival was coordinated with Brad`s work. He wanted to come to Sarajevo and be with his wife at the time when she receives the prize – the Directorate of SFF told us.

They’re filming there from 6 to 13 if i’m not mistaken, but there is no confirmation if Brad is going to be there or if he is when and how long.
testingagain, yes, I assumed someone has seen her movie. He didn’t say so but he put her movie at #4 of his top10 list. (#1 TOL, #2 Meek’s Cofebottan, #3 Drive etc). Other movies on his list were already shown at the theaters or film festivals. He is working as a publicist for indiemovies such as Vera Farmiga’s Higher Ground or The Dangerous Method etc. They are SPC’s movies. Those people go to a lot of screenings because of their job. GK Film’s chairman is former top of SPC. Interestingly, he says Angie’s movie will skip festival circuit.

He has large stock of knowledge of movies and was writing reviews and now he is working as a publicist for movies distributed from SPC(Sony’s branch company). His job is campaigning awards contenders on SPC’s plate . He says they have already started campaign for Farmiga. She directed and starred in Higher Ground. (Yes, I have seen her interview video at MovieCityNews a few weeks ago )?Schlessel had been worked for SPWW (Sony’s another branch company) for long time but resigned last year and moved to newly launched GKFilms and FilmDistrict. It seems her movie impressed GK and FD people a lot and some decision was done. We will see how FD will push her and her movie in coming months.

Marie – thanks for posting the links to the new pocs of Angie and Zee and Brad on the set! I visited MP 4 and there were some small pics of Angie and Zee in Hamleys. I took a closer look at those pics and noticed that Shi seems to be in the pics too. I noticed some blond hair and thought it must be Shi. Zee and Shi are often seen together as a team just like the older boys and the twins. I wonder what they were buying for Mad´s b-day party. It´s hard to imagine that tomorrow he´ll be 10 years old! I just can´t imagine that it seems like yesterday when he was a little baby sitting on his mum´s lap on a swing in NY and now he´s 10 years old handsome young man! How fast does the time fly!

Okay, I feel horrible for ever insiunating that Angie buys too many toys for her kids! Most of the commentors at PopSugar are ripping her apart for being at the toy store once again. The Full Jolie-Pitt Family Celebrate Maddox’s 10th Birthday at Wicked Together!
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt brought all six kids out to see a performance of Wicked in London yesterday evening. It was a particularly special outing since it was also Maddox’s 10th birthday! The twins Knox and Vivienne were in their stroller while Shiloh led the way for the family as they all stepped inside to check out the show. Angelina and Zahara took care of picking out presents for Maddox earlier in the week while Brad was busy shooting World War Z in nearby Cornwall. Brad was looking particularly rugged and handsome last night in his denim shirt and sunglasses, though last weekend it was Angelina’s turn to shine in coral Elie Saab at the Serajevo Film Festival. The duo will be back on the red carpet together soon when he starts promoting Moneyball, which comes out in theaters next month.

Popsugar is one of the most inaccurate blogs I have ever read. Unless they think the motorcycle in that photo is a stroller, I don’t see one–unless it is a stroller for an infant Batman. The twins were not there. Just like Zahara’s “new friend” was her sister and that guy in Mexico playing with the boys in the ocean was not Brad.

According to this small interview with one of the actors that appears in ‘In the Land of Blood and Honey’, a movie written and directed by Angelina, Brad will have a cameo in the movie.
What are the impressions from the set about Angelina and Brad?
– I have to admit that I did not socialize much on the set. I’ve seen Brad less frequently than Angelina, he was more like a guest on the set and appears in one scene. One day we were shooting a scene on the bus, and then on the shooting break I spent a little more time with Angelina. When shooting was completed, Angelina organized party and we talked a lot on that occasion. I can say that I am thrilled with Angelina, she is a modest woman, with both feet firmly on the ground, very humble, and very serious with her job as director. I was surprised how much she knows about entire situation in this region, perhaps more than most people who live in Serbia. She is cheerful, positive. I will never forget her smile, because every time we shoot a scene well, she turned to us, smiled and nodded. She is committed to the children and impressed me with her attitude towards pregnant cast member during the shooting .

Question: Did Brad have previous cameo-occurences in a movie with Angie having the lead-role? May be it was already discussed here, but then I missed it.
Yesterday we watched “The Tourist” again. There is the scene when the train arrives in Venice. I thought one bystander coming out of the train looked like Brad, I am not sure.
However then I go on this site and read about the cameo “In the land of blood and honey”. So I wonder, has Brad been a cameo before, with Angie in it?
testing again: HW, in this case i mean people in showbusiness, are mostly shallow, self centered and have huge egos. of course that doesn’t go for all of them ( certainly not Angie and Brad ) but thats a reason why most marriages or relationships of people in showbusiness don’t last. plus the exposure to the media is hard on every relationship. thats all generally spoken and only my personal opinion, but there is a reason why so many HW couples end up in a nasty divorce – their lives have been and are part of public life. with no privacy its hard staying true to oneself and to others.
brad was orginally going to play the motorcycle rider who evelyn salt knocks off his bike ,on a freeway, in a chase scene in salt, but in the end the schdeule did not allow.
there were rumours of angie being in ocene’s 13, but this was only tabloid talk.
angie and brad both worked on a mighty heart, but brad was never on screen.
i can’t think of any brad appearences, apart from this new angie feature film debuet of “in the land of blood and honey”
Jamie, thanks I thought maybe I was crazy, I went back and looked at the pictures after reading the whole family was there. I saw the motorcycle also, but never a stroller. Pax makes me smile, I guess the kids have told to go straight out and into the car and Pax was flying. I think he and Zee are really not crazy about all the people and paps.

There’s people shallow, self centered and have huge egos everywhere. lol For me the reason the divorce rate in HW is higher is financial – they don’t need to stay together if they are unhappy or don’t want to. On the rest of the world people stay together despite many time hating each other because of financial reasons.
Actors do have a public life but they also have and can easily maintain a very private life if they want too. I by private I don’t mean being photographed — although many of them can avoid being photographed too. Brad and Angelina have been able to maintain a very private life. If you think about it you don’t know much about their lives, real lives, not the rubbish of gossip. Their decision of not reading and answering and engaging the press and gossip was the wisest decision – Angelina was doing that before Brad – they made.

To the rest of you, just as I always do for the J-P kids’ birthdays, I made a birthday video for Mad. However, because my posts weren’t going through, I was unable to share it with you at the time. Then I was on vacation for the past month (hopefully none of you were worried about me!
