Back when this site was known as PittWatch I was paid on a monthly basis; it was my job, which was why I was able to devote so much time and energy to updating. Now that the old site is no more and I am no longer employed by the network I am doing this the best way that I can but I’m pretty well unpaid. I do make a bit of money from the ads, but not much – it’s a drop compared to what I used to make.
I’ve had many wonderful JoliePittWatch readers ask how they can help. You can keep visiting, spread the word, and be a loyal reader. However, the other big thing you can do is help by making a paypal donation to keep me going.
I’ve never been comfortable asking for money but it would mean the world to me if you would be able to help me out on occasion.

If you can’t afford to keep up the site why dont you close it down and stop asking people for money to support a site that you can’t afford to maintain.
Meg – Wow.
One: PittWatch used to be my job. When it was shut down I re-started a site of my own because my readers want a site that covers the news and the good stuff instead of the bullshit rumors and tabloid slander. My site also provides a place where comments are meant to be positive instead of the mud-slinging you see on other gossip sites. I got flooded with emails when PittWatch shut down from people hoping I would be back.
Two: It was suggested to me by several people that I have a donation option set up to help offset the costs since I went from being paid monthly for my site to having to pay out of pocket.
Three: I am running ads on the site and as the site gains momentum it will pay for itself and hopefully will pay enough to compete with my previous salary. Having donations helps as I build my site traffic back up.
Four: Donations are exactly that – donations. JoliePittWatch is not a pay-to-read site. No one has to pay anything but a donation option is available for the many people who have generously sent a bit of money my way. Without some of the early donations I wouldn’t have been able to start a site back up at all.
No one is obligated to pay me a penny and if you disagree with my donations you don’t have to do anything about it. But lucky you, whether you donate or not, you can still read as often as you want. I (along with the money my husband makes) helped pay the rent that houses my family and paid bills and bought food for my family with the money I used to make by writing the old site along with several others before the network shut all of its bloggers down. Maybe you didn’t realize that this was an actual paid job and not just a hobby. If it was indeed a hobby I’d run it on a little free site like blogspot or wordpress.com but it wasn’t – it was my professional work and I’m just trying to continue with that.
Thank you for making me feel small and petty and shallow for setting up a donation option. Maybe if you’re really lucky no one will ever donate again, I won’t be able to continue, and JPW will indeed close down. Thank you so much for the support!

Also if it helps if we click on the ads to generate some more advertising activity, say so! I’ve wondered what sort of ad-contract you’ve got. Some just pay based on the number of visitors on the site, others by number of “clicks” on the ads. So if you’ve got ads, but no one’s clicking… well… we’d better start clicking then

The first time I’ve clicked on the Donate part and Meg.. even if you feel that way there are politer ways to express your feelings in this world. Sherry is trying to do something creative and awesome on her own, with a family and life outside here, and it’s natural that she OFFERS – not demands – a way to support her from people who enjoy it here. I think we should be thanking Sherry instead of bashing her great efforts.

i have a suggestion. If you can add a donation meter where people can see how much more is needed for the monthly expenses or a goal to meet. A lot of times people wait around to see if others will give but if they see a visible meter then they can decide to give right away. not sure if i’m making any sense hehehe.. i’ve seen it in other sites, you can actually see who donated and what is the goal for the month. usually people donate in to meet the goal.

I like Bailey’s idea – something like a temperature/barometer that shows what it takes for JPW to operate for a month, the ad income and donations for that month, and the shortfall.
Our goal can be the lessen the shortfall each month. Numbers work best for some people, visuals work best for me. If JPWatchers know ad income + donations add up to only one-third or one-half of operation costs, maybe more people will step up to donate.

I think you might be able to use a credit card through paypal but I’m not sure. I’m not set up to personally be able to accept a credit card myself.
Thank you Meg for your comments! They motivated me to immediately send in a donation. What an empty, angry person you must be. Chance are you float around to different sites, like the coward you are, leaving hateful comments to people who are just trying to do their thing in a positive way. Karma will take care of your negative energy.
As for this site Sherry…it is fun to visit! Can’t imagine being a mom and a wife and keeping up with a job and this site! Whew!
Keep it up and my suggestion for handling negative people like Meg…ignore them. There will always be haters…trust me you’re not the only one Meg attacks…that is probably who Meg is everyday. But, no need to defend yourself to people like her, you don’t need to defend anything you do!

I have been looking for a site like this and I am so happy I found it – today 12/5/11 for that matter. I am tired of reading the nasty, mean, disgusting comment about Angelina and Brad, especially Angie. I want to be among people who have positive things to say. I am tired of reading lies about this couple. I am a HUGE fan of Angelina (love Brad too). She and Brad are really the only celebrities that interest me and that I read about.
